2-Day Great Ocean Road Private Tour with Twelve Apostles Sunset

The Great Ocean Road is one of Australia’s most iconic coastal drives — but experiencing it properly takes more than a rushed one-day trip.

Recently, we operated a premium private 2-day Great Ocean Road tour for an international group, combining coastal highlights, wildlife encounters, scenic lookouts, overnight accommodation in Port Campbell and a relaxed inland return to Melbourne.

Using a comfortable touring coach with luggage capacity, the itinerary was designed to showcase the very best of the Great Ocean Road at a relaxed and enjoyable pace.

Day 1 — Melbourne to Port Campbell

Anglesea & Great Ocean Road Memorial Arch

After airport arrival and departure from Melbourne, the journey officially entered the Great Ocean Road region near Anglesea before stopping at the famous Memorial Arch, introducing guests to the dramatic coastal scenery that makes the route world famous.

Lorne & Coastal Scenic Stops

The drive continued through Lorne and several beautiful coastal lookouts along the ocean road. One memorable stop included a wildlife viewing area near the Cumberland River region, where guests could observe wild kangaroos from a distance.

Apollo Bay Lunch Stop

The group paused in Apollo Bay for lunch before continuing deeper into the Shipwreck Coast region. Apollo Bay is often considered one of the most charming seaside towns along the Great Ocean Road.

Twelve Apostles Sunset Experience

Arriving at the Twelve Apostles near sunset was one of the highlights of the journey. When weather conditions allow, sunset transforms the limestone stacks into one of Australia’s most spectacular coastal landscapes.

Compared with standard day tours, staying overnight nearby allows guests to experience the Apostles during the most beautiful time of day.

Overnight Stay in Port Campbell

After sunset, the group stayed overnight in the Port Campbell region, allowing for a more relaxed pace and easier access to the coastal highlights the following morning.

Day 2 — Shipwreck Coast & Return to Melbourne

The Grotto, London Bridge & Loch Ard Gorge

The second morning focused on several of the Shipwreck Coast’s most iconic formations: The Grotto, London Bridge and Loch Ard Gorge — showcasing dramatic limestone cliffs, coastal arches and the powerful Southern Ocean.
